The Koror State Government in Palau is planning the world’s first national-scale circular economy initiative, aiming to establish a society where resources are fully recycled. This groundbreaking project seeks to make Palau the first nation to adopt such a comprehensive approach to resource sustainability. Since 2004, around 70–80% of the required infrastructure has already been completed, including container collection facilities, pyrolysis plants, compost production facilities, and the Belau Eco Glass Center.

Once an additional intermediate processing facility is constructed, the initiative will be operational across the entire nation. The estimated construction cost for this project is between $6 million and $7 million, with a well-designed revenue structure in place. When fully implemented, the project is expected to significantly boost Palau’s GDP.
